Felix Big Pack: Canary Wharf packs 100,000 meals for Londoners in need this Winter – 20.10.26

CWG and the Canary Wharf businesses community pack 100,000 meals in a single day, and funded a further 350,000, for people facing food insecurity across London

20th October, London: Hundreds of volunteers from the Canary Wharf business community including teams from Citi, Brookfield, Zopa Bank, KPMG and Morgan Stanley all took part in the first-ever the Felix Big Pack this week.  In just one day they reached packed 100,000 meals, with their donations funding a further 350,000.  Every meal will reach Londoners most in need this winter.

The Big Pack builds on a partnership that has been delivering for the local community since 2023. Through their volunteer-led Green Scheme, CWG and Felix have rescued and redistributed 13,886kg of surplus food from the district to local organisations including Neighbours in Poplar, St Mungo’s Luke House and Queen Victoria Seamen’s Rest, so good food reaches people rather than going to waste. The Canary Wharf community has stepped up too – with 557 fundraisers climbing the stairs of the iconic One Canada Square in the Felix Santa Stair Climb and more than 4,000 volunteers from the partnership support Felix’s Poplar operations every year. The Big Pack marks the partnership’s next step in bringing people together for the community and to a London where no one goes hungry.

Felix is the UK’s leading food rescue charity (formerly The Felix Project and FareShare). It rescues food that would otherwise go to waste and gets it to over 8,000 charities, community organisations and primary schools across the UK, including around 1,200 in London. With living costs continuing to rise, more people are facing food insecurity meaning increased numbers are having to turn to food support services feed themselves and their families.

Charlotte Hill OBE, CEO of Felix said: “Every day the amazing organisations we supply are strengthening their local communities by offering much needed advice, activities, social connection and other practical support. The food is often the catalyst that brings people in, so it is vital Felix continues to supply as much as we can. Partnerships and events like this one are an incredible source of that food, and I want to say a huge thank you to every single person who packed a box, The 100,000 boxes will be shared with organisations and continue to strengthen the local community around Canary Wharf and beyond.”

Sophie Goddard, Managing Director ESG at CWG said, “Packing 100,000 meals in a single day, and funding a further 350,000, is a remarkable result, and it is down to the businesses and people from across Canary Wharf who gave their time and generosity. Our partnership with Felix has always been about how we can take a practical local action, from rescuing surplus food to supporting the organisations doing vital work across Tower Hamlets, all whilst building the strength of our community here. As winter approaches and more Londoners face difficult choices, we are proud to stand alongside Felix, and we are committed to growing this work in the years ahead.”
