London’s newest festival, Summer Daze Festival, launches at Canary Wharf THIS month – bringing a four-day celebration of culture, creativity and live entertainment to Wood Wharf from Thursday 23rd to Sunday 26th July.

A festival made for all ages to discover and enjoy, the line-up will feature live performance, interactive experiences and open-air entertainment. Theatre, music, creative workshops and family-friendly activities will fill the streets, creating a vibrant atmosphere in the heart of the city.

Stand-up comedy

Comedy takes centre stage, with a dedicated programme in the Hazy Daze Tent offering festival-goers a taste of Edinburgh Fringe without having to leave London. Some of the UK’s biggest stand-up comedians will be delivering a packed schedule of sharp one-liners, storytelling and high-energy sets, including Milton Jones, Lou Sanders, Sarah Keyworth, Tatty Macloed and Eshaan Akbar.

Alfresco theatre & dance

A highlight of the programme is the alfresco theatre in Union Square, with reimagined classics and contemporary pieces designed for relaxed summer watching. Standout productions on the line-up include A Midsummer Night’s Dream by 440 Theatre as well as Pews at Ten by The Space Theatre & Novem Ensemble.

Sapnay Entertainment’s beginner-friendly Bollywood dance workshops will also take place at Union Square on Sunday, providing a vibrant and energetic session for all ages and abilities to get involved, learn new moves and have fun together.

Family-friendly events

Families can expect a packed programme of hands-on fun, with plenty to keep little festival-goers entertained. Highlights include Baby Broadway, where West End performers will bring beloved songs from musicals and films to life. A family-friendly production of Alice in Wonderland will be followed by an interactive dance workshop, giving children the chance to learn choreography inspired by the show.

The Lost Property Library by Wrongsemble, which offers an imaginative performance set within an interactive world where forgotten objects, and the stories they hold, are carefully kept, waiting to be rediscovered. Also on the line-up is Big Fish Little Fish Family Rave, a firm favourite that brings together bubbles, balloons and banging beats for all ages.

Live music, poetry and bingo

Docklands Sinfonia’s jazz, brass and street performances will soundtrack the festival, while a curated line-up of Busk in London sets will be bringing the energy during the day. Friday evening’s Musical Bingo will take over Union Square, featuring well-known tracks, games and prizes. Expect a high-energy mix of hit tunes, games and prizes, with sassy comperes, dancers and plenty of surprises,

‘Poet chefs’ will be roaming Water Street and crafting bespoke, on-the spot poems for visitors at the Poetry Takeaway.

Food and drink

Wood Wharf’s restaurants and retailers will join the celebrations, adding to the festival atmosphere. Nearby brewery, CRATE, will host a terrace DJ takeover, local hotel TRIBE will be offering family-friendly activities including face painting and kids-eat-free dining, and neighbourhood-favourite bar and restaurant, Lockdown, will be serving up summer spritzes across all four days.

The new festival is the latest addition to Canary Wharf’s wider summer of alfresco arts and follows the opening of the Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre last summer.

Summer Daze Festival will run across Wood Wharf from Thursday 23rd to Sunday 26th July. Canary Wharf’s full Summer Daze Festival line-up can be found here.
